SHOP windows in Pembrokeshire’s county town are proudly displaying colourful entries from an eggs-tra special competition.

To celebrate Easter, Haverfordwest Business Circle organised an egg decorating contest for local primary schools.

Circle members distributed over 200 eggs for the pupils to decorate, plus a chocolate egg for each child in recognition of their outstanding efforts.

The Circle’s committee had a tough time picking winners from eggs that had been transformed in to an amazing array of creatures, ranging from mermaids and hedgehogs to aliens and birds.

All the entries are currently on display in the windows of Circle members’ premises throughout Haverfordwest. The 21 winning eggs can be spotted gracing the window of Just Nice, on Quay Street.

Each winning child will be presented with a chocolate bunny at a prize-giving event – with musical entertainment - set to take place on Castle Square on Saturday (April 4) between 10am and 2pm.

“We couldn’t have organised this competition without funding from the 4C Initiative, so we are very grateful for their help,” said Circle membership secretary Sally Williams. “Also, Wilko’s community charity fund gave us £20, which we spent on prizes, so we’d like to thank them too.”

Haverfordwest Business Circle is a group set up by independent businesses, with the aim of rejuvenating the county town. For more information, search Facebook for Haverfordwest Circle.
