HAVERFORDWEST Town Museum has re-opened with a refreshed look and a new exhibition.

The Museum’s website has also been re-launched.

“We’ve replaced the carpets and blinds, and give the museum a lick of paint,” said curator Simon Hancock. “The new exhibition is called ‘Homefront Haverfordwest’, to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the second World War.”

The museum received a grant from the Federation of Museums and Galleries in Wales to create ‘Homefront Haverfordwest’, and worked with an educational consultant who helped with its design and installation. The attraction includes interviews with three locals, who were audio recorded reminiscing about their personal experience of the conflict, and a miniature air-raid shelter for children to explore.

A handsome long case clock with a painted face, made in Haverfordwest in 1800, has joined the interesting array of artefacts the museum has to offer.

“I found the clock in an auction in Wiltshire,” Simon explained. “We’d like to thank John Munt for putting it in working order. It’s keeping great time!”
