PEMBROKESHIRE’S county town is buzzing as it counts down the last few days to the first ever Haverfoodfest.

Organised by the enterprising owners of seven Haverfordwest-based businesses, the festival is all set to go ahead on Saturday (May 9) from 10am to 6pm in the grounds of County Hall and the Picton Centre.

The event will feature almost 50 stalls, showcasing an amazing array of the very best food and drink from our county and beyond. Whatever your preference – be it cheeses or cakes, sausages or seasonal vegetables, fruit juice or gin – you will find something to tickle your tastebuds here.

Celebrity chef Angela Gray – whose clients have included Counts and Countesses and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber - is launching Haverfoodfest and will be doing live culinary demonstrations throughout the day, as will a number of talented local chefs.

In another marquee, nutritional experts will showcase healthy snacks and drinks ideas.

Live music, ranging from The Voice 2013 star Ragsy, Caroline Harrison and Kyle Kirkhouse to Raul Speek and the Jumping Fleas ukulele band, will enhance the festival atmosphere, as will the licensed bar!

Taking place at 4pm, The Man v Food competition - featuring the biggest bumper burger ever built - also promises to be an awesome spectacle, with a £100 prize up for grabs.

One of the event’s organisers, Sally Williams of Just Nice, said preparations were going smoothly and the people and businesses of Haverfordwest had been “really supportive”.

“We’ve had some amazing sponsorship,” she enthused. “We really want this to become an annual event, and put Haverfordwest on the map. It’s our county town, after all. All we need now is good weather, and we’ll be happy!”
