YOU are invited to experience the sonic artwork ‘Black Diamond’ as it is blasted out from a boat travelling the Cleddau from Neyland Marina to Haverfordwest Quay on Sunday (August 30).

Commissioned by The Lab Haverfordwest, and created by artist Serena Korda, Black Diamond is a rave-inspired track incorporating 20 field recordings of local musicians and singers, remixed by Serena and composer Andy Wheddon.

The artwork also draws on the history and mythology of the Western Cleddau.

The Black Diamond boat’s journey will be punctuated by live musical performances at three points on the riverbank.

When the boat docks at the Quay in Haverfordwest, Black Diamond will be played in full, followed by a short DJ set by Andy Wheddon.

All are welcome to follow the boat’s route independently, watch it pass from the riverbank, or join in the celebrations as it arrives in the county town.

“Here's to a great event, charged by the creative energy of the musicians of Haverfordwest,” said The Lab’s Guy Norman.

Approximate timings for the live performance are as follows: 4.30pm: Neyland Marina, near Chandler’s Café, launch of Black Diamond and performance; 5pm: St Jerome’s Church car park, Llangwm, musical procession via Rectory Road and bridle path; 5.20pm Black Tar slip, performance; 6pm Little Milford Woods car park, near Hook, performance; 6.30pm the Quay, near the Bristol Trader, Haverfordwest, arrival of boat and playing of full Black Diamond track; 7.15pm – 7.45pm, the Quay, Haverfordwest, Andy Wheddon set; 8pm, The Quay, Haverfordwest, Black Diamond boat departs and event ends.
