CAREERS Wales has opened the doors of its new town centre Haverfordwest office, offering a ‘one stop shop’ for people of all ages seeking careers information, advice and guidance.

The office’s central location at 25 Bridge Street will offer easy access for clients from across Pembrokeshire and house up to 20 full and part-time Careers Wales staff.

In addition to one-to-one careers advice for 16 to 24 year olds, Careers Wales’ services will include Individual Skills Gateway programmes, to help unemployed adults access training and employment opportunities, and ReAct sessions for adults facing redundancy.

Careers Wales will be working with key partners to offer a variety of extra services at the centre, including a Jobcentre plus referral service to support searches for local jobs, work-based learning providers to help young people sustain training opportunities and a youth outreach service to engage with those young people who need additional support.

The centre will also operate a schools careers adviser team who will work in all schools and colleges across Pembrokeshire to offer specialist CV and careers guidance support, as well as build school relationships with local employers.

Richard Spear, chief executive of Careers Wales, said: “In some cases, people who visit our centres may require additional support, so by offering multiple services under one roof with the help of our partners, the centre is taking an holistic approach to helping people realise their aspirations and achieve stability in their lives.

“In the last year, Pembrokeshire Careers Wales staff have supported more than 2,000 young people in schools and colleges to develop their careers plans, as well as provided careers guidance to more than 500 adults seeking employment, and we hope that our improved location will help us to continue delivering our services to those who need them most.”
