HAVERFORDWEST Town Council opened their doors to pupils from Portfield School in a ‘meet the mayor’ event.
Held at the council chambers at Picton Place, Mayor Sue Murray, Councillor Roy Thomas and Councillor Brian Griffiths greeted the pupils, before giving them a tour of the Mayor’s Parlour.
Here the mayor and councillors talked the pupils through the various charters, pictures, gifts and artefacts, each one with a special significance with the town of Haverfordwest. The Mayor then spoke about Haverfordwest’s twinned town, Oberkirch, Germany.
The tour then made its way to the council chamber’s where the pupils saw the mayor and sheriffs robes and both the mace bearers and the sword bearer’s ceremonial weapons.
