FORMER royal harpist Claire Jones from Crymych is set to make her New York debut tomorrow (Thursday, February 27).

The 29-year-old and her composer husband Chris Marshall have teamed up to produce ‘Dylan,’ a piece which celebrates the centenary of Dylan Thomas’ birth.

It was commissioned by the British Council, and gets its world premiere at The British Residence.

Claire said: “I was thrilled to have been invited to take part in the Dylan Thomas centenary celebrations. We met with the organisers in Cardiff, and as the project developed, the team realised this was a perfect opportunity to create something brand new and unique for both the harp world and for Dylan Thomas' legacy by involving my husband and composer.”

This is not the couple’s first collaboration, they worked together on Claire’s debut album 'The Girl with the Golden Harp', which reached number one in the charts, and they regularly perform together as C2.

“It's always an adventure to work alongside Chris,” said Claire.

“We really enjoy that side of our life, and of course we are both perfectionists, and only want to achieve the best possible result when it comes to creating a new piece like this.

“I feel we are so very lucky to be in a situation where we can collaborate as composer and artist, and also travel the world together - as well as being blissfully happy in our marriage too of course.”

Claire will be back home in west Wales next month, where she will perform at Theatr Mwldan in Cardigan on March 22.

Immediately afterwards, the couple will embark on a five week tour of the US, before recording the next solo album, which will be released later this year.
