An Ilkley Harrier is preparing to take on the BUPA Great North Run challenge to help raise funds for Hearing Dogs for Deaf – and there is still time to join him.

Andrew Mitchell, a regular runner, hopes to complete the 13-mile run in one hour 50 minutes.

“My wife and I hope in the future to help the charity by becoming puppy socialisers, taking a young puppy into our home for around 12 months to teach it basic social and life skills before starting training as a hearing dog,” he said.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People still have a number of Gold Bond places available for the BUPA Great North Run on Sunday, September 15, from Newcastle to South Shields and would love to hear from people who want to take part.
