The sentencing of a teenager from Haverfordwest for possessing child pornography has been postponed after what appeared to be more offending came to light, a judge was told today (Wednesday).
James Patrick Francis, 19, of Market Street, had been due to be sentenced at Swansea crown court for two offences of possessing indecent images and two offences of making them.
He had pleaded guilty.
Dean Pulling, prosecuting, said the images had been downloaded from the internet onto a computer hard drive and a Playstation memory stick.
However, since Francis’ arrest police experts had examined his mobile telephones and had found 40 “voyeuristic” photographs of young boys playing in a street while not wearing anything on their upper bodies.
Mr Pulling said it appeared that, unlike the images contained in the original charges, the photographs had been taken by Francis and not simply downloaded.
Mr Pulling said no decision had been taken about laying charges in relation to them.
Judge Paul Thomas said it was a “worrying” development and one that could affect the sentence Francis would receive.
Francis’ barrister, David Williams, said police had not even questioned Francis about the new photographs as they had been discovered so recently.
Judge Thomas said he could not proceed to sentence Francis without knowing the totality of his offending.
Francis will be sentenced at a later date and was further remanded in custody meanwhile.
