A LOCAL Sea Cadet has been presented with an award from Milford Haven Town Council for his ‘astounding’ work in the community.
Petty Officer Cadet Callum Snape was presented with the Citizens Award by Mayor of Milford Haven, Cllr Eric Harries, at the Town Hall recently.
Cllr Harries said Callum's work within the organisation had been “astounding”, and he was a credit to his family, his unit and himself.
He added that it was a ‘double pleasure’ to present the award, as Cllr Harries also has strong links with the Cadets.
Callum, 17, lives in Roch, and has been with Milford Haven Sea Cadets for six years.
He got involved through family friend, and says the experience has been life-changing.
“It’s boosted my self-confidence, I’m eager to get out and do things and also it’s been great for my social life as I’m not stuck with one group of friends. It’s made me more independent too,” he said.
Callum said the was thrilled to receive the award, adding that he now hopes to put some more time back into helping younger cadets, to ‘transform them into more independent people’.
Callum was among six local people chosen to receive the award for their outstanding work in Milford Haven.
