ONE of Milford Haven’s most iconic buildings will be brought back to life this weekend, as the Astoria opens its doors once more.

The former cinema and bingo hall has been transformed into a bar, restaurant and function room by new owners Jayne Anderson and Sarah Kimpson.

The two friends, who have been in business together for years, said they were thrilled to see the finishing touches being put on their new venture.

“We wanted to make it somewhere we would want to go, a different choice for Milford Haven,” said Jayne.

“We’ve definitely put our own stamp on, and our ideas have developed along the way,” added Sarah.

But the pair have also done their best to maintain as many of the building’s original features as possible, and tribute’s to Milford’s past will be incorporated into the new decor.

“We’ve got loads of old photographs, and programmes and posters that we’ve had framed,” said Sarah.

As well as a place to eat and drink, the building also offers a sports and games area, and a unique raised stage for local bands to perform on.

Locals are invited to join the pair for the Astoria’s opening night this Friday, from 5pm, and see the building’s glamorous new look.

And on Saturday night, DJ Mark Devonald will entertain with disco hits at a fundraiser for local charity Greenacres Animal Rescue.

Tickets are £3, and doors open at 9pm.
