LIFE under the sea was the focus for junior artists in Milford Haven Musuem's summer drawing competition.

The winners were five-year-old Dec Walters, from Milford Haven; Emily Sky, 8, from Wiston; Tilly Chapman, 9, from Milford Haven, and Cerys Molly Bray, who currently lives abroad.

At a ceremony recently, the winners were presented with a family ticket for the museum, a book from the gift shop and a card signed by local artist and guest judge Dorian Spencer-Davies.

Mr Spencer-Davies said that, while there would increasingly be a place for computer-generated art, there was no substitute for getting out your pens, paper, crayons and paint.

"For children art is a great way to escape from computers and technology and you have have something to show for it at the end," he said.

"Future generations will want to see paintings, not pictures on a screen.

Also in attendance to congratulate the children was town Mayor, Cllr Eric Harries.

The competition was organised by two of the museum's youngest volunteers, Milford Haven School students James Cordell and Anna-Maria Cutolo.

James said he was pleased the competition, which was held for the first time this summer, was so popular, attracting more than 30 entries.

The museum is open to visitors until November 1. For more information, visit the Facebook page or follow it on Twitter @milford_museum.
