A SIX-year-old girl from Hubberston has proved she is an old head on young shoulders, by donating her hair to a charity helping children with cancer.

Chloe Badrock, who turned six on Saturday (January 10), spent the morning of her birthday at Snipper hair salon, in Milford Haven, where she had more than 10 inches cut off.

The hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

In addition, Chloe has also raised more than £400 for the charity, topping the £350 needed to produce a single wig.

Mum Rachel said that, despite some initial nerves, Chloe was enjoying her new look.

“She loves it, really happy,” said Rachel.

“She’s going to keep it short because now there are no knots, and we only have to brush it once!”

Rachel said the charity was a fantastic cause, and praised Chloe for braving the hairdresser’s chair.

"We are incredibly proud of her and extremely grateful to all who sponsored her," she said.

“I don’t think children are ever too young to learn you can help other people.

“I’ve got two little girls with long hair, and I’d like to think if they ever needed a wig or some support it would be there for them.

“It’s one thing not feeling yourself when you’re ill, but looking in the mirror and seeing someone else is another thing entirely.”

Rachel thanked Snippers, who donated their time for free, and Anna's Welsh Zoo, which has rewarded Chloe for her effort with tickets to the park.

A spokesman for the zoo said: "Anna's Welsh Zoo were delighted to hear that Chloe was donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust and thought it was an amazing thing for her to do.

"We think shes a fantastic little girl who deserves a big well done so we have donated tickets for her and her friends to visit us.

"Anna and the team are very proud of you Chloe"
