THE Mayor of Neyland is asking local parents to have their say on plans that could affect where children from Neyland go on to secondary school.

As part of its proposed shake-up of education in Pembrokeshire, the county council is looking at changing the catchment area for Neyland, meaning primary school children would go on to Milford Haven School, instead of Sir Thomas Picton.

The changes would affect pupils moving on from Johnston, Neyland and Cleddau Reach primary schools.

Under the current plans, it is predicted that Milford Haven School will keep its sixth form, while pupils at Tasker Milward and Sir Thomas Picton schools will have to go on to Pembrokeshire College.

Mayor Cllr Simon Hancock has created a short survey on his website, asking parents at these schools to make their views known.

“I am anxious to hear from as many Neyland parents as possible,” said Cllr Hancock.

To complete the survey, visit neylandnews.org.uk and search ‘sixth form’.

Local parents are also invited to a public meeting to discuss the county council’s review of secondary education in Pembrokeshire, which will be held at Milford Haven School on Wednesday, April 22, from 6pm until 7pm.
