COASTLANDS School is helping to build a brighter future by creating bunting as part of a nationwide project.

The 'Earth Hour' campaign, run by WWF, is asking schools to focus on the things they love that may be affected by climate change.

Jeremy Evans, Head Teacher at Coastlands School, said: “We are proud to take part in WWF’s Earth Hour and our students are excited to be involved with such a great and inspiring event. Everyone can make a difference in protecting our planet and young people have a key role to play.

"Of course there’s a serious message here, but our pupils will also have lots of fun as they help WWF raise awareness of the issues our planet is facing.”

On Saturday, March 28, at 8.30pm, millions of people and global iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, the House of Parliament, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge will switch off their lights for one hour to show they care about our planet.

Cherry Duggan, Head of Schools and Youth at WWF UK, said: “We’re delighted that Coastlands school is taking part and hope that they’ll inspire many other schools to get involved.

"WWF’s Earth Hour is more than just a symbolic hour of darkness. It’s a chance for people, both young and old, to come together and send out a global message about protecting our planet.”
