AS the county wakes up this morning the political landscape remains the same with both Conservative MPs retaining their seats.

In Preseli Pembrokeshire Secretary of State Stephen Crabb held on to his seat with 16,383 votes.

Labour’s Paul Miller came the closest to beating Mr Crabb but was still around 5,000 votes behind with a total of 11, 414.

The full results for Preseli Pembrokeshire were: UKIP 4,257 Labour 11,414 Conservatives 16,383 Liberal Democrats 780 Green Party 1,452 Plaid Cymru 2,518 New Society of Worth 23 Independent - Save Withybush Save Lives 3,729

Stephen Crabb’s reaction: “I’m obviously really delighted and relieved to be re-elected as the MP again in Preseli Pembrokeshire.

"The increased majority again this time is a strong endorsement from local people and I take very clearly the messages that were communicated to me on the doorstep in the last six weeks."

Conservative Simon Hart also retained his seat in Carmarthenshire West and South Pembrokeshire.

Mr Hart took a total of 17.626votes with his closest rival, Labour’s Delyth Evans, receiving 11,572 votes.

Turnout in Preseli Pembrokeshire was 71%, a slight increase on last year and 70% in South Pembrokeshire.

As the votes continue to be collated across the UK it is looking likely that the Conservatives, led by Prime Minister David Cameron, will be in a position to form a majority government with forecasts giving them 325 seats.
