A LOCAL theatre company's 30th birthday celebrations kick off this Friday, with a magical production of Alice in Wonderland.

Since it was established by a group of friends in 1985, Neyland Theatre Company has raised more than £100,000 for good causes,

Last year, the company donated £1,000 towards the cost of new equipment for Neyland playpark, and has previously bought musical instruments for Neyland school, wheelchairs, equipment for the elderly, sports gear and much more.

All thanks to the hard work of its members, and ongoing support from the local community.

Keith and Carol Jones, Elaine Bridgeman, Janet Baker and Jan Rodriguez were founder members, alongside their families and friends.

They were soon joined by Joan Owen, who is now the longest serving member, having taken part in all the shows and pantomimes.

With 32 musical plays and 29 pantomimes under its belt, all penned and produced by Keith, the company continues to grow, and are always looking for new members of all ages to help with lighting, scenery painting, props and costumes.

Over the years, the company has relied on the talented musical direction of Billy Jenkins from Milford Haven; the late Megan Stevens and the current musical director, Bernie Davies.

Alice in Wonderland starts at 7pm on Friday, June 12, at St Clement's Hall, Neyland.

There will be a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday, June 13, followed by one at 7pm, and a final show at 7.30pm on Monday, June 15.

Tickets are £3.50; child and OAPs £3. Book early as limited seating. Light refreshments available.
