MILFORD Haven Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has moved to reassure parents, after conflicting reports on social media of men approaching children near the town’s schools.

Sergeant Dan Bower said police received a call about a man approaching a group of secondary school pupils – not on school grounds – at around 8pm on Thursday night, telling them he was an undercover policeman.

As a result, the NPT contacted local schools asking them to re-iterate the importance of staying safe, and not talking to strangers.

A separate incident, of a man allegedly approaching a pupil from Milford Haven Junior School, was later reported, but was not judged to be related, and is no longer being investigated.

As a precaution, headteacher of Milford Haven Junior School did contact parents, informing them of the alleged incident.

“After investigating the initial incident we are sure there is no cause for concern on this occasion,” said Sgt Bower.

“Naturally we take all reports of this nature very seriously, and if you are concerned that your child has been approached by a stranger, please contact Milford Haven Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
