A SCARECROW competition, comedy show, history walk, live music performances and family carnival mean there will be something for everyone during Llangwm’s festival fortnight.

Kicking off tomorrow (Friday, June 26) with a live music night from 8.30pm at Llangwm Rugby Club, Fiddlebox will be playing a great mix of folk and gypsy jazz guaranteed to get everyone’s feet tapping.

This weekend also sees the launch of the popular scarecrow competition, which attracts visitors from all over Pembrokeshire.

This year the theme is nursery rhymes – how many character will you spot?

From Monday, June 29, to Friday, July 10, there will be tea, cakes and bacon rolls served at the Methodist Chapel school room between noon and 6pm.

And on Saturday, July 4, St Jerome’s Church will be the setting for a teddy bear’s picnic from 3pm – with a competition for the best dressed teddy.

New this year is a ‘walk through history’ on Sunday, July 5, hosted by Graham Stephens which promises a fascinating insight into Llangwm’s past.

The two-hour walk around the village will start at the Cottage Inn car park at 2pm and includes refreshments en route.

Sunday night is also Bingo Night at the Cottage Inn at 7pm – with various prizes to be won.

On Wednesday, July 8, Llangwm Local History Society presents 'The History of the Stackpole Estate'- a talk by Christopher Oliver of the National Trust, at the Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Local choir ‘Llangwm Village Voices’ will be performing in support of the Paul Sartori Foundation on Thursday, July 9, at Llangwm Rugby Club, from 7.30pm.

And don’t miss ‘Seven Ages’ – an uplifting, laugh-out loud comedy show for ages 7 to 107 on Friday, July 10, at the village hall, starting at 7.30pm.

The show celebrates the seven stages of life and tickets are available from the village shop or Pam Hunt on 01437 899966 (£7.50 Adults, £4.50 children).

The festival culminates with the ever-popular carnival day on Saturday, July 11, with the procession leaving Llangwm Green at 1.45pm, led by vintage car ‘Miss Daisy’ and the FF Dancers, and arriving at Pills Park at 2pm.

The fun includes the crowning of the carnival king, queen and attendants, a nursery rhyme-themed fancy dress competition, craft fair, cream teas, a storytelling corner, vintage cars, dog agility course, stalls, bouncy castle, have-a-go at ukulele playing and more!

And the fun doesn’t stop there – a family evening will take place at the Cottage Inn from 5pm onwards, with a delicious barbecue and entertainment including a magician, music from ukulele players ‘The Jumping Fleas’ and ‘The Mini Fleas’, plus the Mustangs – and the scarecrow prize presentation and raffle.
