TENBY’S lifeboat rushed to the aid of woman who had fallen around 25ft while out climbing at St Govans yesterday (Tuesday, August 18).
The RNLI all-weather lifeboat and its crew were returning from a previous shout at Burry Holmes, Carmarthen Bay, when it was tasked to the aid of a cliff faller around 3pm.
St Govans Coastguard and RAF Helicopter Rescue 169 were also called to the scene.
The y-boat was launched with two crew members and one went ashore with first aid equipment to assess and treat the casualty, who had fallen while climbing onto her back on the rocks below, injuring her wrist and lower back.
The helicopter soon arrived with a winch man who is also a paramedic.
He was assisted by the lifeboat volunteer in stabilising the casualty and getting her into the stretcher ready to be winched into the helicopter.
Once winched up, the casualty was flown to hospital in Swansea.
The crewman then returned to the lifeboat and they returned to station.
