THE sound of ‘Jerusalem’ rang out of the water in Milford Haven on Monday, as hundreds of local women enjoyed a very special day trip.

Around 500 Women’s Institute (WI) members from all over Pembrokeshire, plus many partners and relatives, enjoyed a trip around the local islands on the PS Waverley – the world’s last seagoing passenger paddle steamer.

The trip was organised to celebrate 100 years of the WI, and was part of a calendar of events planned to mark the centenary.

Built in 1946, the Waverley is the last steamer of its kind, and has appeared in various documentaries and the 2011 film Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Friends, family and locals came to the marina to wave the vessel off, and watch as she steamed away across the Haven.
