A CONCERT of sacred music at St Jerome's Church in Llangwm on Thursday, September 24, will see Llangwm’s Village Voices choir give its last performance before the church closes its doors for renovation.

The church has hosted many concerts in the last eight years, with performances of Spiritual Jazz, Undumo Wezitswe from Zimbabe, Goodwick Brass Band, La Volta – the medieval orchestra and other musical and spoken performances.

But Village Voices will mark the last concert to take place in the church before it closes for ten months of renovation works.

The concert will be also be recorded for a CD, to 'capture the acoustics of the church before it all changes'.

Said Pam Hunt, chairman of Heritage Llangwm: “Once the work is all completed, the sound of the building will change, hopefully for the better, but even so we want to create a record of what it sounded like in its Victorian state.

"And while we are there, why not produce a CD as well.”

The choir will be the first to perform a concert once the church reopens in the Autumn of 2016, so the team can assess the changes in the acoustics.

The concert will take place at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children, from Llangwm Village Shop and by calling 01437 899966.
