THE story of a ten-year-old boy's anticipation of Christmas Day in 1954 is the setting for Milford Haven author Jeff Dunn's latest charity book.

Based on real events, 'Tony and the Dream Searcher' conjures up images of a simpler time, when the festive season was about family, children played outside all year round, and youngsters still had the threat of the Eleven Plus looming over the horizon.

A stalwart of local nostalgia, Jeff is famous to many for his weekly 'That Reminds Me...' column in the Milford Mercury, in which he and his loyal readers reminisce over Milford Haven's golden years.

This latest novel will again be raising money for the Paul Sartori Foundation, and every penny from the book's £5.95 cover price will go towards this local charity, thanks to printing costs being sponsored by Jim and Elaine Yeomans of Manderwood Timber.

The book is on sale in Milford News in Charles Street, and shop owner Andy Read said more than 50 copies have already been sold since its launch two weeks ago.

Andy said he was thrilled to help support the book, as his late father-in-law was cared for by Paul Sartori in his final weeks.

Jeff's last book raised more than £1,300 for charity, and he is hoping to top this with his latest offering.

"It's a great stocking filler, and the money is all going to a good cause," said the author.

Local reader Michael Jenkins praised the book, which he said brought back many happy memories of the Milford Haven of his childhood.

"It was brilliant, I've read all his books, and the wife and I read this one in two days," he said.
