HUBBERSTON School pupils will be joining the fight against cancer when they take part in a Race for Life on Monday, June 20.

Around 150 youngsters, aged from four to 11 years old, will join forces with teachers to take on cancer and walk, jog or run laps of the school grounds in aid of Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.

Pupils have been training for the event during PE lessons, and have designed personal signs to wear during the race.

They have also been discussing how people are affected by this terrible illness.

Teacher Marc Stow said: “Race for Life is a great addition to the school timetable.

We’re really looking forward to taking part and have been training during lunchtimes and PE lessons.

The whole school is supporting the event so it will be a real team effort and a great day out for pupils and staff, all whilst raising money for a seriously good cause.

“Most of us know someone who has been touched by cancer and we all have our special reasons for taking part and wanting to help more people survive.”
