THREE mums, two teachers, and the Mayor of Milford Haven's consort were among those to face their fears for charity on the weekend.

The super six were among 200 people abseiling down Pembroke Castle keep for charity.

Clare Louise Norton and Louise Beale took on the 75-feet drop as they are trying to raise £4,000 for specialist autism assessment for their sons, Aaron and Ethan, after being told the health board cannot help them.

They were joined for the challenge by friend Claire Gray, whose son Jack has benefitted from specialist support.

Also conquering their fears for a good cause were Meads School teachers Jazz Langdon and Lisa Davies, who this summer will spend three weeks helping the Child of Hope charity in Uganda.

Child of Hope is a Christian charity working to improve life for slum children and their families in eastern Uganda through free education, healthcare and welfare.

At present, it helps more than 450 children, as well as providing counselling and support for families.

And raising money for the Mayor of Milford Haven's 2016 charity fund was his partner, Lloyd Jones, who even managed to snap a selfie at the top.

Lloyd said: "What an amazing experience it was and I'm glad that I did it.

"I'd like to thank everyone who sponsored me and I'll look forward to the next thrill fundraiser."

His partner, Mayor Cllr William Elliott, was there to support him, but said he was not quite brave enough to attempt the abseil himself.

Cllr Elliott said: "I am very proud of Lloyd for the fundraising and the actual abseil too.

"It was also great to see so many young people and adults from Milford Haven taking part and raising funds for organisations and charities around the town."

The event was organised by the Overhang climbing wall, in Tenby, and supported by Pembroke Castle.
