CASH prizes of up to £1,000 are on offer for entries into this year's Milford Haven Carnival parade.

The highlight of the day, the parade traditionally starts in Hakin, snaking through the town towards the carnival field.

And Milford Haven Round Table - whose volunteers organise the event - is offering big prizes in a bid to get more entries this year.

The winning float will take home a whopping £1,000, with £500 for second prize, and £200 for third place.

And all entries will receive £100 towards costs, provided 15 or more people take part.

Entries can be on a vehicle, or walking, and there will also be a competition for smaller walking groups and individuals.

£10 first prize is up for grabs for each category, five to 10-year-olds, 11 to 15-year-olds, and over-15s.

A poll on the Round Table's Facebook page saw more than 800 people vote in favour of keeping the parade as part of the carnival, but more entries are needed to make this happen, say organisers.

This year's sports-themed family fun day will also feature a special sporting celebrity guest, but organisers Milford Haven Round Table are still keeping the VIP's identity under wraps!

Clues so far are that they are famous for playing rugby, and have had an amazing career, playing for both Wales, and the British and Irish Lions.

One of the county's biggest carnivals, Milford promises a memorable day for all the family, with fun, games, music and more.

Last year's music theme drew in huge crowds from around the county,
