WALES rugby legend Adam Jones will be kicking off the fun for Milford Haven’s sports-themed carnival today (Saturday, July 2).

The annual family fun day, which attracts thousands of visitors from across the county, gets underway at 1pm, as the procession makes its way through the town to the Pill playing fields.

Opening this year’s event will be former British and Irish Lion Adam Jones, who will take part in the procession, and sticking around for selfies with the locals.

Organisers say they're thrilled to have the hairy Welshman for this year's sports-themed event, where there'll also be a stunt team, live music, and more.

Earning oohs and aahs from the crowd with a host of crazy tricks, incredible skill, balance and power will be Action Sports Tour, Europe’s premier action sports show.

Featuring Trials Riding, BMX, MTB Dirt Jumping, Freerunning, Scooter and Flatland BMX, you’ll be left speechless by these incredible athletes’ gravity defying moves.

Scarlets Rugby will also be running mini rugby training sessions, a bungee run, and plenty of sporting merchandise.

Local musicians Lucy Jones, Rosey Cale, and The Voice contestant Ragsy will be playing live on the Radio Pembrokeshire stage, while Mellusion Magic, fairground rides, paintballing, face painting and an animal corner provide plenty of fun throughout the day.

“We’re thrilled to have one of the most recognisable rugby players in the country with us for this year’s carnival,” said Mark Johnson, chairman of Milford Haven Round Table.

“Our main aim is to put smiles on faces and make happy memories for everyone who comes along.

“People in Milford still talk about the celebrities we has in the carnival when I was a kid, so we hope this will be something the town will remember for a long time.”

"We would like to thank our supporters, in particular South Hook LNG and BDS for their help in making this possible," he added.

Float and fancy dress walking entries will also be accepted on the day, with fantastic cash prizes on offer.

Entry is £1, with 50p for children and OAPS. Alcohol will not be allowed on the carnival field.
