A POPULAR Milford Haven author is hoping to break the £50,000 mark with his latest charity book.

Jeff Dunn – best known for his weekly ‘That Reminds Me…’ column in the Mercury – has penned another book in aid of the Paul Sartori Foundation.

‘It’s all write by me’ features a selection of short stories that promise ‘something a bit different’ to his previous five titles.

The first, ‘Tony after the storm’ is a follow-up to Tony and the Dream Searcher, and will whisk readers of a certain age back to their childhoods.

‘The road from Little Milford’ is a dark, disturbing tale, set in the late 19th century – in vast contrast to Jeff’s usual light-hearted writing style.

And short story ‘Sophie’s choice’ charts a marriage in crisis - but Jeff is keen to point out that any resemblance to anyone he knows is purely coincidental!

All profits from the book - on sale at Milford News, in Charles Street - will be donated to the Paul Sartori Foundation, which supports people with cancer and terminal illnesses, and their families.

“If we sell as many books as last time we will break the £50,000 mark,” said Jeff, who has been fundraising for 22 years.

But the local history buff is keen to thank all who have helped him in his fundraising efforts.

“It's not my achievement, it's down to the many who have helped me over the years, the sponsors and those who have regularly supported me,” he said.

“Without them, I wouldn't be able to do it.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we sell out again this year,” said Andy Read, of Milford News.

“Jeff’s books always go really well, and we’ve had orders from all over the UK, and as far away as America and Australia.”

Jeff will be signing copies of his book, priced at £6.95 at Milford News on Friday, October 28, at 11am.
