CANCER patients in Pembrokeshire will be able to take the weight off their feet for a few hours, thanks to the Port of Milford Haven.

Cancer sufferers at Pembrokeshire Cancer Support are to receive reflexology sessions thanks to a funding boost from the Port.

The charity was selected by staff at the Port to be its official Charitable Cause of the Year throughout 2016 and has so far benefitted from fundraising activities, donations and a freshly painted charity shop.

Reflexology is a specific pressure technique that works on precise reflex points on the feet and, as a holistic healing therapy, can help relax, balance and improve nerve and blood supply to the area of the body that needs it. Some people report that they can sleep better and feel less stressed after the sessions.

Lyn Neville, Charity Co-ordinator at Pembrokeshire Cancer Support, said: “We would like to thank the Port of Milford Haven for their continuing support and for helping us to continue this essential service for cancer sufferers and carers who gain a real benefit from this therapy.”

Commenting on the donation, PR and Communications Manager at the Port Anna Malloy, said: “It’s been really interesting to learn what sort of benefits reflexology can offer cancer patients and we hope that our support can go some way towards helping those who receive it.

"Pembrokeshire Cancer Support is doing a wonderful job in supporting their users and providing a vital service in the community.”
