A JOHNSTON man will be 'growing a mo to save a bro' this month.

Luke Wealthall, 24, aims to grow a moustache to raise awareness of men's health issues.

"I wanted to take part to raise awareness of mental health issues in particular, as it means a lot to people I know and myself," said Luke, who works in retail.

"Not many people understand it if they haven't experienced it themselves.

"Issues such as anxiety and depression, can mean a very difficult time, but many people shrug it of as something else."

Luke believes more people should make an effort to learn about mental health, and so is raising money through the Movember Foundation, which works to address some of the biggest health issues faced by men, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health problems and suicide.

On its website, the foundation says: "Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men.

"Around the world, on average we lose a man to suicide every minute of every day.

"Three out of four suicides are men.

"Too many are toughing it out and struggling alone."

In the last 13 years its has funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world.
