A Haverfordwest woman, spotted outside a local pub at night, has been sent to prison for breaching a curfew order.

Amy Louise Rees, 23, of Goshawk Road, appeared before the town’s magistrates on January 30, and pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a suspended sentence order.

The court heard that Rees received a 24 weeks custodial sentence, suspended for 12 months, after being convicted of smashing shop windows. The order included a 5pm to 8am curfew, which was breached on January 8 and 13.

Rees was seen outside a Haverfordwest pub at 10.20pm, and caught on CCTV outside Eddies night club the same night.

Mike Kelleher, defending, said the breach had been ‘opportunistic’, and Rees was benefitting from working with probation, learning new skills which would prevent her from reoffending.

He said: “She is asking for one last chance to comply, not just with the curfew, but with the other parts of the order, so that her growing maturity will be seen by everybody. She has changed.”

Magistrates said they had no option by to activate the suspended sentence and Rees was taken into custody for 12 weeks.

Rees denied two common assault allegations at the hearing, and will stand trial on March 6.
