The mum of a Milford Haven teenager who tragically took her own life after suffering cyber bullying has urged youngsters to think about how harmful words can be.

Megan Evans was just 14 when she died last week.

Speaking to the media following her daughter's death, Megan's mum Nicola Harteveld, said: "It's transpired she was being bullied on Snapchat.

"Unfortunately, there's no getting away from it now - they have their phones 24/7.

"Be careful what you say, words can't be taken back.

"They may seem trivial or may be said in anger or jest, but they can't be taken back.

"You don't know how that person will take it so be mindful of someone else's situation.

"I want everyone to remember there's always someone to talk to."

Nicola added: "I want to raise awareness of teen suicide. She took her own life.

"We just didn't see any signs. I want people to be aware.

"That's what makes it so difficult to understand because we didn't see anything coming."

She continued: "We still don't know why because she didn't leave a note, but from what we have found out, there was some Snapchat bullying going on."

Megan's family and friends are now desperately trying to get hold of signed Justin Bieber merchandise to place in her coffin.

Megan was huge Justin Bieber fan.

Nicola added: "It was her dream to get some signed memorabilia from him and if I can fulfil that dream for her, it would mean everything."

"Megan was funny, witty and always helping everybody out. She was everyone else's rock, that's what makes this so hard.

"The amount of people who have said 'Megan was there for me and we are devastated' is incredible.

"We had a note from a little boy who lived down the road who said 'I was being bullied and she helped me'.

"She was outgoing and sporty. She was active and full of life. It's humbling the amount of support that's been shown for her."

A JustGiving fund has been set up to go towards funeral costs and to make a donation in Megan's name to anti-bullying charities.
