South Wales Women's Hockey League Division 2:
Carmarthen 2
Milford Haven 0

IN their last home game of the season, Milford Haven hosted title challenging Carmarthen, and it was the visitors who went home with three points with vital goals at the end of each half.

Carmarthen started the better and enjoyed long periods of possession, but didn’t manage to create any clear opportunities as the home defence looked comfortable.

Milford did come into the game midway through the half and fashioned some good chances but failed to get the breakthrough.

And late in the half, an attacking break saw Carmarthen force a short corner, and a defensive lapse gave the visitors a 0-1 advantage going into half time.

Both sides came out with intent in the second half and moved the ball well. There were opportunities for both teams during a high tempo period - and Milford were gifted a golden chance but failed to capitalise on a close range scramble.

The home side kept pressing and put together some neat phases, but as they were pushing for the equaliser, Carmarthen broke down the left and despite a good save by Yasmin Riggs, the rebound was converted to seal the game for the visitors.

"I'm disappointed with the result, as I felt we played well and the performance merited a better outcome," said skipper Emma Summons, who along with Rachel Coe, was adjudged Milford's player of the match.

This Saturday Milford - who have issued public thanks Barry and Michelle from The Vic, Milford Haven, for their continued support - are away to Penarth, 3.30pm pushback.

Milford Haven Squad: Emma Summons, Yasmin Riggs, Vicki John, Kate Farr, Meg Evans, Charlotte Davies, Georgia Davies, Kate Barnard, Rachel Coe, Meg Jones, Steph Layton, Kasey Arran, Sian Davies, Iola Williams.
