VOTERS will have three important decisions to make in the next six weeks.

As politicians prepare for a snap General Election on June 8, and hundreds of prospective councillors pound the pavements ahead of the County Council elections, seats are also up for grabs on many of the county's town and community councils.

These smaller bodies have an important roll to play in highlighting and addressing issues on a very local level, from having a say on planning applications to improving play facilities for children.

Increasingly, they are also being asked to take on tasks such as the running of car parks and public toilets, traditionally the job of county council.

Elections for these roles will take place on Thursday, May 4 - alongside the county council elections - and polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm.
