AS a mark of respect for the victims of the horrific attack, flags across Pembrokeshire have been lowered today.

Flags at County Hall in Haverfordwest, Haverfordwest Castle, Milford Haven and Fishguard town halls and St David's Cathedral are now flying at half-mast.

A county council spokesman said: "This has been done as a mark of respect and sympathy following the recent bombing in Manchester."

"The smallest city in the UK stands in solidarity and remembrance with Manchester," said a cathedral spokesman.

A vigil to remember the victims of the horrific terrorist attack in Manchester will be held in Haverfordwest this evening (Wednesday).

The vigil has been organised by the Mayor of Haverfordwest, Cllr Alan Buckfield.

It will take place at 6pm at the County War Memorial, Salutation Square.

All are welcome to attend.

At least 22 people were killed, including children, and many more were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the Manchester Arena on Monday evening.

Dyfed-Powys Police Assistant Chief Constable Liane James said the force was had "no current plan to deploy military into our area at this stage".

"Our thoughts continue to be with the families and friends of those affected by Monday’s events in Manchester and with our colleagues at Greater Manchester Police and their partners, as they continue their work," she said.

"In light of the threat level being raised to critical, we are reviewing our events and current known demand and will tailor our policing response accordingly."

She added: "Communities defeat terrorism, which is why we must maintain the strong relationship between the public and police.

"We depend on information from the public, who can be our eyes and ears, in our efforts to keep us all safe.

"I would urge people not to panic, but to remain alert and vigilant.

"Any suspicious behaviour or activity should be report to 0800 789 321 or in an emergency the public should always call 999.
