PEMBROKESHIRE College’s MITEC campus has received a generous donation of steel plates and pipes from Valero Energy, Pembroke.

The college would like to thank Paul Evans from Valero for organising the transfer.

The surplus steel was delivered by Jenkins and Davies Engineering, who kindly collected the goods on behalf of the College.

The manager of Pembrokeshire College’s MITEC campus, Malcolm York, was delighted with the generous donation: “We are extremely grateful to Valero for thinking of us and a special thank you to Frank Crawley, Workshop Manager from Jenkins and Davies Engineering for arranging the collection and delivery of the goods.”

The steel plates and pipes will be used by MITEC’s Welding and Fabrication apprenticeship students, who will perfect their skills in joining and fabricating large and small pipes as well as plates and structural steelwork.

Today (Thursday) MITEC will host the advanced welding semi-final, which will see former Pembrokeshire College Level 3 Welding student Josh Tuson, now an apprentice welder at Jenkins and Davies Engineering, fly the flag for Pembrokeshire.
