Experts are investigating an oil spill at the SemLogistics tank storage site in Waterston.

A statement released by Environment Agency Wales this afternoon said that a small amount of oil has been lost at the site. Initial on-site monitoring suggests the oil is contained.

Public Health Wales has advised that the health risks associated with this incident are likely to be low. As a precautionary measure, an air and water sampling strategy is in place.

A joint response group has been established to monitor and assess the loss and to make sure the local community and the environment is protected. It is currently chaired by Environment Agency Wales and includes Public Health Wales, Pembrokeshire County Council and representatives from SemLogistics.

SemLogistics is co-operating fully with Environment Agency Wales and is also investigating the loss, taking necessary measures and closely monitoring the tank and surrounding area.

The local Liaison group, the elected representatives, together with all other respective organisations have been informed.
