Alert after seabed ‘bomb’ sighting

A NAVY bomb disposal team was sent to the Milford Haven waterway on Tuesday after a reported sighting of a WWII German bomb on the estuary bed.

The sighting was made by divers carrying out a survey along the waterway on Monday afternoon.

A 50-metre exclusion zone was set up around the area following the reports.

Milford Haven Port Authority harbourmaster Bill Hirst said: “The team dived on the site, near Pwllcrochan Flats adjacent to Pembroke Power Station on Tuesday morning and carried out a thorough investigation of the area.

“The divers have confirmed that nothing has been located and returned to their base.”

Mr Hirst confirmed that no shipping had been affected and the port was operating as normal.
