AN application for a residential development in Narberth came back before Pembrokeshire’s planning committee on Tuesday, April 8.

It sought permission to extend the time period for submission of reserved matters and implementation period for commencement of the development at Glebeland, Adams Drive.

This in effect seeks to renew the original planning permission which was granted in December 2010.

The application came with the planning officer’s recommendation for approval subject to conditions, including code for sustainable homes, highways, and drainage.

John Morris, who has lived in Adam’s Drive for 48 years, addressed the committee on behalf of concerned local residents.

He pointed out that parking had become an issue in the town, with the introduction of car park charges and more yellow lines. This has resulted in people choosing to park in the residential areas.

Mr Morris said: “We are very concerned about the future of the fields earmarked for development. We are afraid that in time Adam’s Drive could become a rat run for Redstone Road.”

“As residents we appreciate that some development will take place, all that we ask is for Pembrokeshire County Council to listen to our concerns.”

Narberth County Councillor Wynne Evans said: “The fields have clearly been identified as a development site for many years. There are two access points; one via Adam’s Drive and the other at Bloomfield Gardens.”

He proposed councillors carry out a site visit, a motion which was seconded by Councillor Peter Stock. The vote was unanimous in favour.
