PRIMARY school pupils in Llandissilio are helping to spread a life-saving message ‘say no to CO’.

The youngsters at Ysgol Brynconin were amongst children across Wales targeted by gas distribution business Wales & West Utilities to learn about the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.

Carbon monoxide - known as the ‘silent killer’ - can be emitted by faulty appliances and causes around 40 fatalities in the UK every year.

The company has partnered with Theatr na nÓg to take ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’ on an eight-week tour to Welsh schools in areas that have been identified as being at particular risk of CO incidents, with pupils being asked to carry the message home to parents, grandparents and carers.

Said theatre disrector Sara Lewis: “The response has been wonderful. The ‘CO hakka’ which has been created as part of our story has gone down a storm.”
