GOOD progress is being made towards Narberth Swimming Pool’s target of £200,000 to enable a community take-over of the facility from Pembrokeshire County Council.

The total of cash and pledges is now approaching £60,000. “This is a magnificent achievement and an excellent demonstration of support from the community in a very short period of time,“ said SwimNarberth secretary John Sleigh. “Nevertheless, we have to remember that our target of £200,000 is essential to make the business plan viable.”

Pledge forms are available via the SwimNarberth website and in the town from Nobles, Jack Williams, Spar and Andrew Rees Butchers to notify SwimNarberth of how much investment can be made. The share offer is due to launch early in September.

A coffee morning in aid of the pool is taking place at the RAOB Club, Narberth on Saturday August 20 from 9am-11.30am. Entry is £1, which includes a coffee and a Welsh cake, and there will be a cake stall, tombola and raffle.

The pool is now taking bookings for all swimming lessons starting in September, and people are being encouraged to book early to secure places.
