A WELLINGTON Bomber which crashed on the river in Cenarth 70 years ago will be remembered in a special service at the village war memorial

at 11am on Saturday, August 23.

Four of the six crew members died when the bomber crashed in 1944, and a plaque honouring them was placed on the side of the War Memorial below St Llawddogs Church on the 50th anniversary.

A small Act of Remembrance is held at the memorial every year, and Barbara and Graham Elliot of the Old Smithy will welcome Don Drew of Carmarthen, who was a trainee pilot on Wellingtons in 1944.

Mr Drew, aged 90, makes an annual pilgrimage to lay four red roses on the memorial to commemorate the four crew members killed.
