The Newcastle Emlyn based Branch of the Hardy Plant Society recently visited Dyffryn Fernant near Fishguard. Members were rewarded by six acres of mature, but ever evolving garden, sited at the
edge of a valley. A red painted farmhouse and rustic farm buildings had all been incorporated into a cottage garden style of planting. Swathes of Verbena bonariensis jostled with yellow Achillea.
Pots of tender Canas, Lilies and Aeoniums were sited by paths which led to a wild flower meadow with Umbellifers and Scabious. Other features included pond, stream, bog garden and newly planted
grass area together with statuary, some specially commissioned, all set in a dramatic landscape.
