MARCH has been a good month for a talented Pembroke Dock teenager who looks set to dance his way to the West End one of these days.

Seventeen-year-old Ross John began the month by taking second place in both the freestyle and slow dance competitions at the Diva Divo dance festival at Bridlington, near Scarborough.

Ross, who has been dancing with the West Wales Academy of Dance (WWAD) since the age of five, has just been awarded a three-year full scholarship to Performers College, Essex – one of the best performing arts colleges in the UK.

While there, he will undertake a diploma in professional dance and professional music theatre.

WWAD director Melissa Johnson said: “This has been Ross’ dream since he was a little lad. He’s finally made it.

“This is a massive opportunity for him. A lot of the people who come out of Performers go on to the West End.

“It’s a massive achievement, I’m massively proud. It’s an honour for someone in Pembrokeshire, from our academy, has achieved something so fantastic.”

Last August Ross became the first ever world freestyle champion from Wales.
