A CAREW student has proven she has an eye for enterprise by setting up her own business selling products made from everyday items.

Alongside studying for a business diploma at Pembrokeshire College, Jess Webb, 19, has launched her own business, Little Green Phoenix.

Creating wine racks from wooden pallets, coasters from old magazines and vases from tins, Jess up-cycles anything she can get her hands on.

Jess has recently been chosen to feature in a Welsh Government advertising campaign promoting enterprise to young people. She also represented Wales at the Global Enterprise Challenge at Germany last year.

“My diploma course has really helped me think about my business strategically,” said Jess.

“I set-up an e-business last year that sells up-cycled products - turning boring everyday products into new products.”

Jess’ flair for business has been recognised further by securing a place on the Big Ideas Wales boot camp at Bluestone in January.

Big Ideas Wales is a Welsh Government scheme to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.

“After the success of Big Ideas Wales, Jess was offered the opportunity to have a stall in the Hayes in Cardiff,” said tutor Karen Neville.

“This was a huge opportunity for her - only two of the boot camp attendees were offered this.”
