A FASCINATING new exhibition celebrating the bicentenary of Pembroke Dock is now on display at the town’s library.

The Then and Now exhibition, which was launched at the gallery at Pembroke Dock Library on Friday, April 4, aims to give visitors a snapshot of the town’s past, using old photographs and articles.

It also showcases work by Pembrokeshire artists and photographers who have been inspired by the town as it is today or by ideas drawn from its history.

The images and information in the exhibition have come from a variety of sources and community groups.

The exhibition includes a plasma display screen featuring a specially created ‘Then and Now’ photographic display by Roger McCallum. There is also a bicentenary tapestry created by Age Concern Community Arts.

It is hoped the exhibition will encourage people to find out even more about the town’s history using books at the library.

Representatives from several organisations, including Pembroke Dock local history classes, the Sunderland Trust and Age Concern attended the launch.

Author Phil Carradice, who has recently published a new book about Pembroke Dock’s colourful 200-year history, also attended.

The exhibition will run until Monday April 28. For more information contact Pembroke Dock Library on 01437 775825.
