AFTER six months of hard craft the Pembroke Dock banner-making group is looking forward to adding even more colour to the town as it celebrates its bicentenary this year.
Despite some of them never having used a sewing machine before, members have designed and made 24 beautiful banners to hang around the town.
It is hoped the banners, with designs ranging from the town’s Garrison Chapel and a Sunderland flying boat to a puffin and a daffodil, will be hung at both the Pump House and the First and Last roundabouts, as well as on London Road.
Patty Pratt, a member of the Pembroke Dock Bicentenary Group, organised the workshops which were led by Gwen Griffiths at Pembroke Dock Youth Centre every Monday.
Gwen has helped make the banners for Pembroke Festival for the past nine years.
She said: “They were such an enthusiastic group, you wouldn’t believe. We had a great time with lots of laughs.
“We can’t wait to see the banners up in the town, it will be a real thrill.”
