PEMBROKE Dock showed just how much talent it has during the town’s recent summer festival.

The Dock’s Got Talent contest took place on Friday, June 20 at the Pater Hall, Dimond Street.

There were 14 different acts with performances by children from Pennar Community School, Pembroke Dock Community School and Pembroke School.

The standard was so high that judges struggled to whittle down the field, but after some deliberation they came to a decision.

Toby Davies came first for his phenomenal street dancing skills, while second place went to Rebecca Beynon, an outstanding singer, and Kyle Jennings was awarded third place for his fantastic singing and stage presence.

The event was such a success – and so well attended, not just by performers but audience members too – that Pembroke Dock Festival Group has already decided to stage another talent contest next year.

Pembroke Dock town councillor Peter Kraus, who helped organise the event, said: “It was a group effort which, thankfully, worked perfectly.

“I thoroughly enjoyed being Master of Ceremonies for the night and being able to introduce fantastic acts from all ages.

“I did not realise how much talent there was in Pembroke Dock until now.”

The contest was the penultimate event in Pembroke Dock’s week-long summer festival which began with a fun day at the Memorial Park on Saturday, June 15 and culminated with a street part and festival dance the following Saturday (June 21).

Celebrations were held throughout the week including a quiz, a maritime tour, storytelling and a Strawberry Tea.
