STAFF at Tesco in Pembroke Dock have joined a whole host of celebrities in putting pants on their heads in a bid to help a Cardiff schoolgirl who urgently needs a bone marrow transplant.
Hollywood actor Matthew Rhys, former boxer Joe Calzaghe, footballer Gareth Bale and Wales rugby stars Sam Warburton and Shane Williams have all joined in to help eight-year-old Hollie Clark who has a rare bone marrow syndrome called Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
Hollie’s parents launched the #pantsonyourhead campaign to encourage people to join the Anthony Nolan bone marrow register. #HelpHollie is trending on Twitter and the appeal has seen a huge increase in the number of people joining the register.
Tesco Pembroke Dock deputy manager Andrew Gough said: ''We need to raise the awareness among all our customers, colleagues and friends that one of us could be the cure that Hollie desperately needs.
“We are hoping to reach 1,500 Tesco colleagues in the hope there may be a match for Hollie. She is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant.
“Myself and my staff are honoured to be able to try and find a match for little Hollie, and we are going to do everything we can to help the campaign.”
