PUPILS from Golden Grove School pitted their sporting skills against each other at a first class sports day on Tuesday, June 24.

The competition was the culmination of a busy season of track and field events.

There was huge support from parents and carers who turned out to cheer on the competitors as the school houses of Swans, Cormorants and Herons went head-to-head in running races, the egg and spoon and an obstacle course.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was the year six egg and spoon race which saw PCSO Carla Thomas take to the field in full uniform to compete against the pupils.

The final points tally saw Swans house scoop the winners cup, which a delighted Jarvis and Ffion received from Phil Bradden.

Headteacher Les Johnson, commentator and Master of Ceremonies, said: “We have a long tradition of sports days in school, the events are always supported and I thank the pupils for the spirit they showed in the competitions.”

Mr Johnson also thanked everyone who attended and the friends of Golden Grove who put on light refreshments.

The school would also like to thank the RNLI beach lifeguards for the recent safety session they held with pupils and for all their work to keep Pembrokeshire beaches safe.
